branobag del 1-2-19: 32/20 blues

Nella ripubblicazione graduale delle vecchie puntate, non è proibito mettere ogni tanto qualche inserto nuovo, se no diventa un esercizio seriale.

Metagiornalismo forestale lungo la sp124 grossetana (27-1-19)

Per esempio ultimamente ho ascoltato parecchio il disco due del concerto “The Bottom End” dei Gov’t Mule di Warren Haynes, e fra vari pezzi ganzi c’è il 32/20 Blues.

Questo è, tanto per cambiare, un brano nato fra le due guerre mondiali scorse, in particolare di Robert Johnson. Si potrebbe dire che Robert Johnson sta alla musica come Philip K. Dick sta al cinema, in termini di cose scritte che sono state poi molto riusate (e bada bene che Johnson a sua volta l’aveva scritta adattando un pezzo di Skip James…insomma…).

Venendo al brano: inizialmente mi era piaciuto per la trama di batteria…un paradiddle di 12 minuti, la parte slide è accattivante, e poi sono andato necessariamente a cercarmi il testo, ché dicevo: “o come mai ci vogliono tutti i medici di Hot Springs?”. Testo tremendo! Solo per ascoltatori consapevoli.

Non ho ritrovato il video della versione corrispondente al CD (che esiste, perché ho il DVD), ma questa ci assomiglia abbastanza. Buon ascolto.

Brano bag del 29/1/19: per cominciare la giornata con i pugni chiusi (in vario modo)

[Il branobag originale, del 9/8/2012, era stato scritto in partenza per andare a tenere una presentazione sulla Buiometria partecipativa in Val Pusteria…oggi si parte per Parigi via Milano]
Demetrio Stratos è sempre Demetrio Stratos. Qualche mese fa su RAI5 hanno trasmesso un interessante documentario su questo personaggio (ed è reperibile un DVD + libro su di lui). Nella canzone sui pugni chiusi versione Sixties si ritrova anche un passaggio molto simile a un altro di “When a man loves a woman”, o dico male ?

Dopo pochi anni Demetrio Stratos avrebbe fatto un salto di binario notevole, fondando gli Area e cominciando a spiegare cose un po’ diverse circa I pugni chiusi (imponendosi pertanto come una delle band più innovative ed anti-convezionali del panorama musicale italiano dei primi anni settanta cfr Wikipedia)…ne riparleremo in un prossimo episodio, ricordandosi di essere nel 2019 e non nel 1979.

Questo l’ho girato io nel maggio 2008…in un viaggio fra Seattle, Redding, Oakland e altri paraggi della West Coast, mentre si era nei preparativi di un convegno su “Cultura, ambiente e informatica libera” che si sarebbe tenuto di li’ a qualche settimana. Interessanti le battute finali, da cui si intuisce che Charles T guardava “La prova del cuoco”. Il brano e’ anche nella scaletta della Jug Band dalle Colline Metallifere.

Il pezzo sfuma prima della parte di assolo percussioni, ma quella già ve la ricorderete. Questa l’avrò fatta vedere individualmente ad almeno una persona al mese negli ultimi nove anni. Quando pubblicai questo branobag la prima volta (1/8/2012), avevo letto di recente che l’Agenzia Europea per l’Ambiente suggeriva che “sharing is everything” (condividere e’ tutto). Allora teniamo questa onda.

Vi invito anche a rivedere il reportage fotografico e altri video che feci quando andai a conoscere i Barbatuques a Nizza nel maggio 2011.
