I provided GIS support in the final design phase of the Fusina remediation wetland, South of Venice. The work included estimation of excavation volumes, definition of the vegetation plan, and automated creatio of the final plans for the construction site.
2004-2005
I designed and managed a utility survey for the wastewater system in a large industrial plant, including:
Cagliari, Sardinia, in the context of “L’Isola Ecologica”, an event on awareness raising about environmental sustainability.
Talk given at the “Isola Ecologica” fair in Cagliari, Sardinia.
A one-day session, with an extended lecture and exercises.
2003-2005:
I managed a program of data conversion and surveys for the utility systems of a large industrial installation (approximately 200 km of utility lines on a 10-square km site).
A lecture at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sassari, Sardinia, invited by Professor Francesco Soddu. The presentation was summarizing various independent research projects conducted between 1999 and 2003 concerning geographic text mining, and related work.

In 2004 I did some mining of the CORDIS web site (with all the information on EU-funded research), for example by mapping the number of projects by country. I do not have at hand the source data I scraped, and it is not immediate to re-construct the colour scale, but this is a sample output:

I designed and coordinated the development of an information system providing dynamic visualization (including maps) of various socio-economic indicators for the region of Sardinia.

I designed and developed a Geographic Information System to support an environmental characterization project for a dismissed mining site with acid-mine drainage issues. The system included a workflow to integrate legacy data.
