Michele Cati an astrophotographer, participating since last year in the BuioMetria Partecipativa project, published an article in the February issue of “Tutti fotografi” with some of his night sky shots.

This is an interview for Radio Popolare Milano made in preparation for the BuioMetria Partecipativa outreach event on July, 30, 2015 in Milano.

The talk recalls ideas on participatory open mapping, emerging issues with high color temperature LEDs, tasting tasty products from Southern Tuscany, and other stories related to night sky quality.

The radio show was proposed to (1) launch the lecture scheduled for the afternoon of the same day at the Institute of Hydraulics at Politecnico di Milano, Italy, and (2) do some live tasting of genuine products from Southern Tuscany.

If you are in a hurry, please skip to minute 10, as the first part of the show was about something else. After that, you have 22 minutes of finely crafted pibinko-style improvisation, hosted by two friends.

I would like to stress that it’s really hard to take pictures in a radio show without a wide-angle camera

For Disma and Ale (kudos!!!), the guys running the show, I would like to point out two typos in the description of the podcast in the Maramao web site:

• we were talking about “buoimetria” (i.e. night sky monitoring) and not “buoimetria” (oxen monitoring). We do have some livestock in Souther Tuscany, but we aren’t into participatory monitoring of that…yet…
• when we say mappare, we use an apostrophe and some parentheses…m(‘)appare is different from mappare, just like dont is different from don’t

This morning’s episode of Ovunque 6 , on RAI Radio Due, had the Earth Day as its key topic.

The hosts were asking the audience to propose SMS text messages with ideas on energy saving. We replied, and the message was eventually selected and re-proposed during the show.
