Heads up: Sat. Feb 26, the Third Jugcast Colline Metallifere: “ri-bella” Music with VEA

The format created by the Jug Band Colline Metallifere to support “hybrid aggregation” (partly in physical spaces and partly online) talking about culture, environment, open innovation, and music. After Elena Maggi on light pollution (see the Feb. 12 recording) and Marco Marongiu from Oslo, Norway, on open innovation (see the Feb. 19 recording), on Saturday, Feb. 26 we will give the floor to VEA.

The singer and songwriter from Turin, also known as “mother of songs” will be at home, under the ole Antonelliana and close to the Holy Shroud. To be on par with these landmarks, Jack O’Malley (hosting the Jugcasts under the name of Luigi de’Foschi -i.e. Louis Shady- and wearing a fake beard) and Mauro Tirannosauro, will be in Florence, Italy, under the Brunelleschi dome and not far from the locations that Pope Francis will be visiting the following day (in this context we should also recall the text mining made by pibinko in 2015 on the Laudato Si’ encyclic see article 1 and article 2).

Mauro Tirannosauro and Jack O’Malley (without the beard which he uses to impersonate Louis Shady) during this morning’s imaginary press conference. On the other hand, what is not imaginary is the interest that the Jugcasts are raising in the followers of the Jug Band Colline Metallifere, as measured by direct feedback.

We met VEA at the Sanrito 2017 Festival, where she won the contest (see link), and we are really glad of seeing her again for this Jugcast“, commented Louis Shady during the press conference which took place in his mind this morning. Mauro Tirannosauro, being a fine observer of the music market in Euro since Jurasic times added: “I hadn’t heard such a talented vocalist since 580000 BC. VEA really does ri-bella music“.

Instruction to connect to the Jugcast are at the page: http://www.pibinko.org/jugbandcollinemetallifere/indiretta/ . For more information and booking: micalosapevo@pibinko.org.

Local Warming (Motivations, Lyrics, and Groove)

[TO BE TRANSLATED]

Quanti ne volete di questi? (potete rispondere a micalosapevo@pibinko.org)

Jugcast dalle Colline Metallifere. 2. Open Innovation, with Marco Marongiu

The kaolin quarry seen from Piloni looking east

This was broadcast from the community cente in Piloni (Southern Tuscany), between 12.15PM and 12.40PM on Feb. 19, 2022. For the first time, we had the honour of having Claudio “Bob” Spinosi as a co-host. Bob was in 2007 one of the pillars of the “Palla a 21 from Tuscany to Chicago Mission”, and since then he is our main guide and advisor on many aspects of the Southern Tuscan territory (in addition to being a musician and a music expert).

We decided to try this location in order to test the level of service of the mobile network in one of the hamlests which is running up in Tuscany for a large grant for “cultural, social, and economic regeneration of hamlet at risk of being abandoned, with less than 300 housing units” (this is something we have been doing anyway for the last fifteen years with the pibinko.org network. The next episode will be on Feb 26. We will be talking about music with VEA, and the show will be hosted from Florence. The actual location in Florence is to be defined..in any case not far from the city centre.

Heads up: Sat. Feb 19, the Second Jugcast dalle Colline Metallifere, on Open Innovation

After the opening on Feb. 12, with Elena Maggi from the University of Pisa, who told us a bit about light pollution studies in coastal areas (you can find the recording here), the next meetup will be with Marco Marongiu. Marco is a Sardinian computer scientist currently based in Oslo, Norway. Marco will tell us about free/open information technology, starting from his experiences in the Nineties with the foundation of the Linux User Group in Cagliari.

In the two following episoded we will be dealing with music, with VEA, and finally with culture (and surprise guests).

Here is our trailer for the upcoming Jugcast dalle Colline Metallifere:

The Tattistampa Ape was stolen

All things must end. Nice games do not last too long (an Italian saying). “You know how it is” etc…NOT.

In the night between February 13 and 14 2022 Wolfgang’s Ape Piaggio was stolen. Wolfgang is our one-string bass player, our printer, our archery trainer, our technical director for fruit pruning, our researcher in the field of ancient wheat, and our German-speaking mahatma (see link).

Wolfgang, with his Ape, is a known character in a fair slice of the metalliferous hills of the Grosseto area, since the Ape is his primary vehicle between Tatti, Ribolla, Roccatederighi, and Sassofortino. At times you might find him in Gabellino. The event was reported at the Carabinieri in Ribolla, close to Tatti. At the time of writing (3.22PM) an update is that the back section of the Ape was found in via Massetana (the main street crossing Ribolla).

At this point, things will be taken care of.

As far as we are concerned as the Jug Band Colline Metallifere collective…Wolfgang’s Ape is part of our logo. It has been the subject of one of our songs, and we have dedicated lots of energy to promote the sale of his Wolfgang’s hand-made prints. So the Ape as an object might have vanished, been torn to pieces, or been dumped the nearby Bruna river…but the symbol remains, even if during this day it is looking a bit hazy. We will be glad if Wolfgang’s Ape can be found.

If you have information, please write to tattistampa@tiscali.it

Dario Canal, Wolfgang Scheibe, on the Ape which was stolen last night…and Simone Sandrucci. This was in Tatt, Southern Tuscany, a few days before the JBCM’s departure for the first German tour (May-June 2019 – see article)
The song dedicated to Tattistampa. This was composed in November 2019, as an opening theme for Wolfgang’s exhibition at Altrimondi, in Follonica, Southern Tuscany (see link)

The JBCM “metàverse”

This video comes from a double interpretation of the word “metaverso” in Italian. Depending on how it is pronounced, it can be recorded as “metà verso” (I am pouring half of something)… for more information and booking: micalosapevo@pibinko.org or whatsapp +393317539228

Abbiniamo a questo simpatico siparietto una canzoncina che girava a Gent, Belgio, nel 1993, invitandovi anche a seguire il primo jugast della JBCM, andato in onda sabato scorso, se non lo avete ancora fatto (vedi link)

NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA
I got a feeling right
NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA
This ain’t going right

Can’t see the wood for the trees
Can’t feel the wind for the breeze
Militant screaming on me leaning
To the left, to the right
In the middle lose the meaning
So many dons say they’re wise
So many bloods telling lies
Can’t see the wood for the trees
Can’t feel the wind for the breeze

Reaching for the right vibe

Learn about the vibe from the scribe
And then running firm with the tribe
The harder they come the harder they fall
The vibe myust conquer overall
Reachin’ to make sense of the time
Reasoning up the thoughts in rhyme
Can’t see the world for the trees
Can’t feel the wind for the breeze
Hey now

Reaching for the right vibe

If I had the chance to make one decision
I would let each man walk the earth
Under equal condition
If I had the chance to make one decision
I would try to floy through the isms and the schisms

Jugcast dalle Colline Metallifere: 1. Environment, with Elena Maggi

This was broadcast from the Associazione Filarmonica Popolare di Torniella music hall in Southern Tuscany from 12.15PM to 12.32PM CET on February 12, 2022. We spoke about monitoring of light pollution and its impacts in coastal areas (in the context of the pibinko.org network we work on light pollution since 2008 with the BuioMetria Partecipativa project)

The next Jugcast will be on February 19. The topic will be open innovation and our guest will be Marco “Bronto” Marongiu (please see this article to review the presentation of the first jugcast series).

Most of the interview is in Italian (but you can practice your active listening skills), and the last five minutes or so are in English.

If you like our Jugcast dalle Colline Metallifere, please leave something in the JBCM digital hat.

Heads up: The Jugcasts from Colline Metallifere will be starting on Feb. 12

The Jug Band Colline Metallifere (JBCM), the international and inter-generational collective based in Southern Tuscany and with collaborations in four continents, proposing since 2018 conce[r|p]ts is proud to announce a new mini web series of four episodes.

Starting from February 12, for four Saturday, we will be proposing short interviews to some folks that we have met and who proved to have a good resonance with the four sectors in which we operate: culture, environment, open innovation, and music. To be honest, this breakdown is kind of artificial, since we believe that the boundaries between these “domaines” are not so strict. Anyway, what we have in store for you:

  • Saturday, Feb. 12: Elena Maggi, associate professor in ecology, for environment
  • Saturday, Feb. 19: Marco “Bronto” Marongiu, founder of the first Linux User Group in Sardinia, for open innovation
  • Saturday, Feb. 26: VEA, singer and songwriter, for music
  • Saturday, March 5: surprise guests, for culture

Each “jugcast” will be streamed live at 12.15 CET, with a duration of around 15 minutes. That’s roughly the time you would need to sip a coffee and read your newspaper, or to have your preferred drink.

The first jugcast will be streamed six kilometers North of this place.

The jugcasts will be mostly (not only) in Italian, so this will be an excellent opportunity to improve your skills if you are learning the language spoken in what is considered by many the most beautiful country in the world (with the show streamed physically from what is considered by many the most beautiful region in the most beautiful country in the world….now would you miss that even if you can just say “molto bello“?)

Following the pibinko.org network tradition of highliting non-dangerous relationships and curious correlations (without ships): you will hear it from a southern Tuscan (maremman) girl now living in Pisa, from a Sardinian in Norway, from an artist with origins in Lucania (Southern Italy), in Torino, and two surprise guests from two surprise locations. Accounting for these “space warps” our guests will be invited to communicate following different tones during the show…but we don’t want to give too many spoilers.

The Jugcasts will be streamed live via the pibinko.org Zoom “channel” (up to 100 participants). They will also be recorded and later made available from the JBCM web site.

To be on the live show, you will need to pre-register following the instructions provided online. The host will be physically located from wherever he feels. This will likely be from one of the spots visited by the JBCM members during the tours made since December (i.e. Milano and Florence, in addition to the south-western quadrant of Tuscany).

At the end of the first jugcast series, a certificate of attendance can be provided, if needed.

The Jugcasts dalle Colline Metallifere are produced by the Jug Band Colline Metallifere (Andrea Giacomelli, Dario Canal, Simone Sandrucci e Wolfgang Scheibe/Tattistampa) in collaboration with whoever will collaborate.

From left to right: Simone Sandrucci, Wolfgang Scheibe, Jack O’Malley e Dario Canal in the silicon macrochip production facility in the heart of the Metalliferous Hills. The access to this site is ultra-secret, a bit like the bat-cave, with an entrance from the secret Tattistampa print shop, along the road between Tatti and Roccatederighi

The Geotour from Tatti (Souther Tuscany) to Roccatederighi (Souther Tuscany) via Politecnico di Milano: how did it go?

Very well.

Please just scan the News section of our site between November 2021 and January 2022 to get a feel for it.

In November 2021 we also initially created a specific tag for this tour, but we realize now that following it, you would not fully appreciate the story. In any case, if you really need for specific purposes to “isolate” the Dec. 2021 Geotour material from the rest, please click here: http://www.pibinko.org/jugbandcollinemetallifere/tag/methillsmilan2021/

If you have one hour of time, we strongly encourage you to read (in English) or listen to (in Italian) this performance+interview, which was the highlight of the tour: http://www.pibinko.org/jugbandcollinemetallifere/the-rosetta-stone-style-transcript-of-the-live-motel-show-dec-17-2021/
