Mauro Tirannosauro

Mauro and Jack O’Malley from the JBCM have been knowing each other since 1999. They first met in New York City, during a scientific conference in the Bronx, and have been in touch since then.

Eventually, Mauro relocated on this side of the pond, namely in Italy. First in Sardinia, then in Milan. Here he collaborated with pibinko on The Revenge of the Killer Chihuahua and of the Zombies .In 2011 pibinko relocated to Southern Tuscany, more or less. Mauro stayed in Milano, getting stuck in some insider trading business, and growing a hipster beard. We lost track of him around 2015; apparently he went on a sabbatical leave. He showed up in Tatti at the end of March 2020, after hearing a radio interview on Participatory Lithology.

Initially he proposed himself as a mascot for this project. Just in a couple of weeks, however, he quickly worked his way up the org chart. Now he is basically the mastermind behind the whole Participatory Lithology operation, in addition to performing on lead vocals with the the Jug Band Colline Metallifere, as you can see below.

La storia di Peter e tutto il materiale di archivio che abbiamo su di lui dal 1974 e dintorni…li ritrovate nella presentazione della sua Freedom Ballad del 3 aprile scorso. Peter ieri sera ci ha mandato un altro momento di riflessione musicale, che vi riproponiamo su questi schermi…purtroppo nel marasma di messaggi che circolano in questo periodo, e a cavallo di 48 ore molto impegnative, ce ne siamo accorti solo oggi…ma si rimedia: vai Raman!

Seeing the Milky Way by Day (Mauro Tirannosauro feat. Liliana Cafiero)

With the unexpected success of Mauro Tirannosauro‘s debut in the Jug Band Colline Metallifere and his track about Participatory Lithology, the cousins from BuioMetria did not waste their time. They called up Mauro in the middle of the night, and worked on more geolyrics.

Inspired by a relatively famous ballad by a relatively famous Irish band, the song follows the story of this project started in 2008 in the Farma Valley, Southern Tuscany, for the protection and promotion of night sky quality, and leaves us with some outlook. Mauro T. ‘s duet with Liliana Cafiero (starring in the geojazz tune on Participatory Lithology, issued a few days ago) opens the floor to more collaborations among the entertainers active on this project, and potential new entries in the story.

BMPDAN Scansano

Scansano in provincia di Grosseto (che una volta veniva da alcuni non toscani confusa con Scanzano Jonico, data la pronuncia uguale del toponimo da parte degli indigeni) è ormai nota ai più come patria dell’omonimo Morellino.

Anche a Scansano negli anni abbiamo organizzato diversi eventi come rete pibinko.org (vedi http://www.pibinko.org/tag/scansano/), e ci è capitato di invitare alcuni nostri conoscenti da Scansano ad altri eventi che abbiamo organizzato, in particolare sull’Ottava Rima (2014 a Grosseto, 2015 a Potassa). Poco sotto Scansano, potete anche trovare un ragazzaccio che a volte si veste da Babbo Natale, ma in questo video ve la spiega sul rapporto fra uomini, animali e ruralità.

Brani consigliati “Bevi il vino di Scansano“, ma perché no anche “Il Vino Nero” che via via si fa con la Jug Band Colline Metallifere (per esempio qui, in un contesto particolare).

Le foto sono di Clara Leoneschi. E guardano in direzione est-sud-est. Alla sinistra una parte dell’orologio che sovrasta la porta di accesso al “Dentro”, la parte vecchia del paese, entrando dalla piazza Garibaldi, con statua citata nella canzone del Morellino di cui sopra.

Questa è una zona che è un po’ così vicina-così lontana per la Jug Band CM, per cui il brano ve lo facciamo consigliare da Elena, che in quanto conduttrice radiofonica di comprovata esperienza propone “Are you ready for the Country” di Neil Young, nella versione di Jason and the Scorchers, che secondo lei è più maremmana.
