“Olive Oil 4 Food” is the campaign launched by the Jug Band Colline Metallifere and the pibinko.org network, in collaboration with who will collaborate (a full list of actors will be published shortly) to share points of view on olive oil, in a difficult season for this product. The subtitle for the campaign is “se voi fate la bruschetta, noi si mangia” (if you will make bruschetta, we get to eat).
Various components of our network have “family” olive groves in Maremma, Southern Tuscany, and in their jobs they deal with numerous agricultural businesses, not just in Tuscany. For this reason we have a quite educated picture of the issue. We gave an introduction to the topic on Oct. 30, 2023, on the radio (The podcast from “Poveri ma belli” is at this link).
We are planning a mini tour between the end of November and early December, with a “threefold” expected result for our audience: entertainment, quality product tasting, and information. It’s beyond “infotainment“, it’s “infotastainement“.
The campaign is open both to Italian and non-Italian businesses.
The deadline to be part of the first round of the campaign is Nov. 20, 2023, 3.51PM CET. After this date it will still be possible to contact the organizers in view of a second round of the campaign.
If you are interested to host additional events, to propose your olive oil, or to be a sponsor, please write to micalosapevo@pibinko.org or whatsapp +393317539228.

The “mapperitivo” is a format for entertainment and audience engagement event based on activities to (re)discover territories starting from maps. The structure of the event has been developing since 2008. We started with the m(‘)appare Milano project, combining it in time with hundreds of initiatives and events managed with the pibinko.org network. In 2014-201 mapperitivi were the basis for the creation of the Farma Valley community map (halfway between Siena and Grosseto). These were then replicated in Castelnuovo Val di Cecina (2017), Tatti (2018-2019), Bruxelles (2019), Roccastrada (2020), and Roccatederighi (2022). In time our approach has received national and international attention.
In a mapperitivo, maps, either digital or in paper, are displayed together with objects and characters related to a given territory. This creates the starting point for an experience where storytelling, scientific outreach, and participatory methods are merged in one situation. The objects displayed are part of the pibinko.org travelling micro-museum and of our stuff-o-theque (in any case we are open to hosting also contributions from other subjects).
A mapperitivo can take place anywhere, even though its elective location is -preferably- a café, a bar, or any other place where an aperitivo can be served.
Maps and objects are always joined by musical instruments. This does not mean that a mapperitivo will by default turn into a concert (for “musically prevailing” events please see the presentation on the Jug Band Colline Metallifere music). However, having musical instruments around will create a basis for potential rehearsals, jams sessions, and other forms of expression.
The crew providing mapperitivo animation is represented by Andrea Giacomelli, MS and PhD in environmental engineering with experience since 1994 in mapping and geographic informations systems. Depending on context, he is joined by one or more elements from Jug Band Colline Metallifere and from the pibinko.org network, which since 2007 operated in the protection and promotion of lesser known or minor assets in the field of culture, enviroment, and open innovation.
A mapperitivo can be easily proposed to an international audience, given the language skills of our working group.

One of the stories that we like to tell during our gigs, concerning Wolfgang “The Wolf” Scheibe is that he has seen Jimi Hendrix live. Not once, twice. And not over months or years, but two evenings in a row. Man: these experiences are bound to open your mind, as another James said!
A couple of days ago Wolf found online the poster of one of the two concerts he attended, so he could remember the actual dates: January 14 and 15, 1969. He also told us yesterday that, starting from these two dates, and following a Proust-like “search of lost time”, he started remembering a bunch of people and situations related to those two days.
At this point we have two questions:
If you have an answer to at least one of these two questions, please write to jugbandcm@pibinko.org or whatsapp +393317539228. We give you our best regards with Simone Sandrucci, Dario Canal and Samuele Boscagli covering Angel by Jimi after a JBCM gig at Le Volte in Roccatederighi (Southern Tuscany). This was Dec. 10, 2022:
After 21 events, starting on June 16 and roughly spread between Tuscany and Germany, with gigs also in Trentino and Emilia Romagna, On Sep. 14 at Tangram Beach we have declared the closing of the 2023 Brezel Tour, our Summer tour.
In addition to musical events, we had activities between one musical event and the other…music and territory. This has led to initiatives and stories from which a series could be scripted (and this is not the first time in the context of the pibinko.org network).
In the coming weeks we will see about preparing a summary of this story. In the meantime we give you our greetings with a shot taken by our Tangram Beach friends while the band is about to leave, and two invitations:
We are now at work on our “autumn/winter” collection. Talk to you soon.

On July 28 we were at the grand opening of the tasting location at Ampeleia, an excellent biodynamic winery close to Roccatederighi, in the Metalliferous Hills in Southern Tuscany (actually, ten minutes from our home base). We recently received a few shots, which we like to share. The photo credits go to Benny Leonberger (IG: @champagnjamin).
