The Openlime library is available

I am glad to share this news from Fabio Bettio at CRS4, Sardinia.

Here comes Openlime, the javascript library allowing you to create visualization web apps, with a focus on relightable image rendering. This is done by attaching to the image data information on the properties of its geometry and materials., che si possono quindi illuminare, perché il dato immagine può contenere informazioni sulle proprietà dei materiali e della geometria.

This approach is used in the cultural heritage sector, e.g. for paintings, frescoes and bas-reliefes, as it allows the analysis of works with a grazing light, exposing details or issues. Furthermore, the library natively handles multi-resolution images, enabling the acquisition of huge works (gigapixel images).

The library has been published just recently, but it has already been employed for some installations:

The library is availalable online at: https://www.npmjs.com/package/openlime or github: https://github.com/cnr-isti-vclab/openlime.

The manual is available from: https://cnr-isti-vclab.github.io/openlime/.
